The Canadian Cognitive Abilities Test (CCAT) is a reasoning test used to find out a student’s eligibility for admissions into gifted and talented programs. It is a group-administered intelligence assessment given in Canada in grades K-12. The CCAT 7 tests verbal, nonverbal, and quantitative reasoning. The test is administered over 3 separate sessions and takes 90 minutes. The CCAT 7 determines a child’s aptitude for learning. The result may be seen as predicting the student’s general achievement in school. The CCAT 7 tests the student’s ability to learn and indicates the student’s IQ. It does not test achieved learning or school knowledge.
