Figurative Language Examples MatchingThis Figurative Language Examples Matching Activity introduces students to 12 types of figurative language: Alliteration, Simile, Metaphor, Hyperbole, Oxymoron, Personification, Onomatopoeia, Imagery, Symbol, Pun, Cliché, and Irony.

This activity provides students with randomized examples of figurative language. A Word Bank at the top lists the 12 types, helping students connect examples with their corresponding figurative language. Students type their answers into blank fields next to each example, then use the “Check Answers” button to see if their responses are correct. Incorrect answers are highlighted in red, while correct ones turn green. If needed, students can reveal the correct answers, clear their responses, or generate a new problem set for more practice.
